 Synod

The following "Blackburn Motion" on Welcoming Transgender People will be debated at the General Synod of the Church of England in York on Sunday July 9th at 2.30 pm

MOTION ON WELCOMING TRANSGENDER PEOPLE …to move on behalf of the Blackburn Diocesan Synod: ‘That this Synod, recognising the need for transgender people to be welcomed and affirmed in their parish church, call on the House of Bishops to consider whether some nationally commended liturgical materials might be prepared to mark a person’s gender transition.’

The Synod takes place from 7th to the 11th July 2017
WE NEED TO LOBBY AND MAKE OUR POSITION KNOWN TO SYNOD DELEGATES.
If you can, please try to attend the debate.

You, and all transgender people, partners, friends and supporters, are urged to write to all of the Members of the General Synod of the Church of England who represent your diocese, giving personal testimony of your own most relevant experience as a transgender person, partner, friend or supporter, explaining why in your view why it is correct that the official provision of such liturgies should be provided. You could also note that the provision of a liturgy would be a clear mark of welcoming a transgender person into the Church.

So that we can be better informed, we would be grateful if you would copy your message to
sibylslink@gmail.com . Also please add a comment telling us which Diocese has been contacted
